After the group became well established Lallans®™ Group stepped onto the food industry, where the fruit and vegetables processing factory was set up in 1999. The aim of establishing KC Marketing Services was to increase the group’s stability and also in turn help the rural farmers and the unemployed. With the help of same KC Marketing Services was able to stable farm gate prices for agriculture products and to create employment opportunities for both local uneducated and well educated graduates of Peradeniya University. KC Marketing Services employees passed out graduates from Peradeniya University of Sri Lanka as factory managers, quality controllers. KC Marketing Services processes fruit and vegetable products which have brand name of “Rime” and distributed by K.C. marketing services. Through the quality of factory operation and methodical planning KC Marketing Services received the Presidential award for the best entrepreneur of the years 2006. (Food Processing Section) .

Our products are prepared from specially selected fruits ripe and wholesome from one of the best fruit growing area in Walawe basin of Sri Lanka. Our products are prepared from carefully selected ingredients to set the best nutritious values and prepared under strict hygienic conditions. KC Marketing Services has developed and maintained the products in accordance with all food regulations and standards in Sri Lanka. Also KC Marketing Services was awarded the SLS certificate mark from Sri Lanka standard institution for “Ready to serve Drinks”.

Most of the processing operations are done either manually or by semi automatics machines. Operations like Cutting and pealing are done manually first and then will be further processed using machines like pulpers, crushers, juice extractors, finishers. Etc. Heat transfer is done using steam jacketed open pans.

Processing is carried out according to batch system. Which involves in production of one batch after the previous one is over. Filling is done using siphon fillers and gravity fillers. Capping is done both manually and by machines. Double seaming machine which is semi automatic is used for seaming of cans. Labeling, coding, packing of containers in to paper board cartons are manually carried out by well trained laborers. Bottle washing is done by a semi automatic bottle washer.

Main heat source of the factory is steam which is generated by a steam boiler. Boiler is operated by license boiler operator and it is located outside the processing unit. It is a tube type boiler, which cam produce 500 kg steam per hour.
